ImageX Offers Website Usability Analysis

Jul 20 2015

Website design will always be something of a controversial topic, as there will never be a shortage of opinions.  A great web design will struggle to hold its worth if it is unable to accomplish both, the business and the user goals it was intended to.

Recently, we shared a blog post on how to improve your web design ROI with data and testing.  In this post, we impart some compelling insights about validating web designs using the concept, "design by data."  By applying a combination of usability best practices with reliable data to major components of a website, we can reasonably predict the website's overall effectiveness and its ability to generate higher conversion rates.

That said, do you know how your institution's website is actually performing?  Are your business and user goals being met?  Let's find out!

In conjunction with our partner Acquia, ImageX is offering a FREE Usability Analysis of your primary landing page, homepage, or a single page of your choosing.  Our Usability Analysis will focus on the key elements of your web page that will have the highest impact on user experience:

  • Navigation:   Doing a heuristic analysis, can we see anything that causes confusion, appears cluttered, or delivers a poor user experience (UX)?
  • Design:   Is your design progressive, modern, uncluttered and consistent with your brand?  Is there enough white space in your design to help users focus on important elements?  If your typography well defined and consistent rather than conflicting?
  • Mobile:   Does your page adapt to mobile environments?  Are there clear and easy paths that allow your users to find the information they want?
  • Links:   Are your links and buttons obviously clickable? Are the color choices consistent in what’s clickable and what’s not?
  • Calls to Action (CTA):   Are your CTAs compelling and prominently placed?  Is there anything competing with them that would cause distractions?
  • Images:   Are your images inviting and uniquely balance on-brand professionalism with authenticity?
  • Website Copy:   Is your website copy scannable and appropriately written for digital environments?  Is it well suited for the demographics of your target audiences (e.g. 16 - 18 year olds, potential adult and graduate students etc.)?
  • Secondary Personas:   Do you offer your secondary users (e.g. current and international students, faculty, staff, alumni etc.) a place to go without taking up to much homepage real estate?
  • Rich Media:   Does your website offer access to rich media such as streaming video, virtual tours, and student life point of views?  Are you measuring the performance of your rich media with targeted key performance indicators (KPIs)?

If you are considering a website redesign, or perhaps seeking to generate more website traffic and conversions, get in touch with us about our FREE Usability Analysis for Higher Ed Institutions.  Our team of UX experts can discuss your current website performance and how it might be improved by upgrading the user experience aspect of your website's design.
