Daniel Washbrook

Drupal Developer

Social Connections:

Daniel Washbrook is a Drupal web developer by day and a regular human, usually asleep, by night. He’s been a pocket-protector-wearing computer geek since before it was cool. Drupal took over his life about 5 years ago, and no amount of therapy will ever make it right again.

Daniel’s career began after high school, when he started towards a Bachelor of Commerce in marketing. He left his friends and family and moved to France to specialize in cultural issues pertaining to the European Union and marketing across borders. However, his love for computers and skill as a developer brought him back to Canada. He misses the fine French food, but not the cold winter rain.

Back in Canada (Kelowna, to be exact), he started working as a freelance web developer, fine-tuning his skills in Unix and Windows-based development. Being overworked quickly helped him also develop skills in Project Management. He’s had the pleasure of working with clients such as lululemon and Lions Gate Films, as well as non-profit organizations including such as the United Way and Boys and Girls Clubs. Once he began specializing in Drupal as a primary solution for Content Management Systems, the fit with ImageX Media was just natural. Their commitment to innovation and support for the Drupal community inspire Daniel to work harder and be better at everything he does.

Daniel on Drupal: “Drupal is a powerful, extensive open source framework and CMS that I feel in control of when I work with it. The massive community is inspiring and the response I get from clients reinforces it as the right solution.”

In his spare time: “I’m into kayaking, skiing, backpacking, mountain biking, electronics and traveling. My new place has a garden, so that’s quickly becoming a main time consumer as well.”

Little-known and entirely useless facts: “I can hold my breath for over a minute when it doesn’t matter. Upside down in a kayak? Only about 10 seconds. The first time I saw “the Internet” I was sadly disappointed by it’s lack of games. Ah, to be 12 again. And when I was in grade one I wore costumes to school and my favourite parties are still costume parties.”
