At ImageX Media, we love working with non-profit organizations, especially when we can see our sites directly helping those in need. The site we designed and built for SERRV is doing just that. SERRV’s ArtisanWork site provides a platform for artisans in the Latin America, Asia and Africa to access information and connect with each other in order to learn best practices, exchange information, and grow their skills and organizations.
One important consideration of this project was to create a modern site that could still be easily accessed in less-than modern settings, such as small Internet cafes with slow connections. Another goal was to provide opportunities for people to be active on the site and connect with each other – so we included features such as a forum, “ask an expert” and “share a resource,” as well as instructional videos and blogs. Now fair-trade artisans around the world can have a common meeting and learning place as they continue on the path to self-sustainability.
