Careforth (Formerly Seniorlink) Case Study

Overview
Careforth, formerly known as Caregiver Homes in some states, has undergone a significant rebrand to better reflect its mission of supporting family caregivers. Careforth provides professional coaching, emotional and financial support for families caring for loved ones. They serve Medicaid-eligible individuals and their families in select states, as well as members enrolled in Medicare Advantage and their families nationwide through a structured family-caregiving program.
As part of its commitment to caregivers, Careforth offers Vela Learn (velalearn.com), a web-based caregiver knowledge library designed to provide professional personal education, meet caregiver education requirements, and host program content modules for Careforth’s external partner programs. Additionally, for healthcare partners, Careforth delivers services, support, and technology that engage and empower family caregivers, ensuring they have the resources they need.
What They Needed
Vela Learn ran on Drupal 7, which provided a user experience that no longer met the needs of its users and future programs. As a result, it required an upgrade to Drupal 10, alignment to Careforth’s new brand, improved reporting, and more efficient user workflows.
The goal of the Vela Learn solution was to leverage technology to provide an efficient, frictionless, personalized, interactive, and intuitive experience that enables professional users and caregivers to access the most relevant resources and tools they need.
How We Helped
We implemented the website using Drupal with a base Bootstrap theme, extended using Bootswatch for lightweight styling and integrated the Healthwise RESTful API. Integration with the Seniorlink/Vela SSO IdP was configured using standard contributed Drupal modules for Single Sign-On with Active Directory/LDAP and integration with AWS Translate was configured using standard contributed Drupal modules for machine translation. We now provide ongoing support to the team.
